October 5, 2016

  • A caller reported “children coming in and out of a vacant property and that it’s been happening for days now.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “an out-of-control 9-year-old child,” who was “upset due to being disciplined” when his parents “removed toys from him.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “the back of a garage has collapsed and is blocking the alley.” An officer responded and tried to make contact with the owner of the collapsing property. The Perry Public Works Department was alerted.
  • A caller said “her medication had been stolen.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said she caught a cat running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.

October 6, 2016

  • A caller said a 9-year-old child and an 11-year-old child were “refusing to go to school.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a man “was being treated with dialysis and was doing well but now says that he can’t see.” An officer responded, and the Dallas County EMS was paged.
  • A clerk at a local retail store said “a woman was trying to make a purchase of $2,000 because her grandson is in jail.” The clerk said she believed the woman “is involved with a scam and has not let her purchase a money order.” An officer responded and “determined that a subject called, claiming to need money to get her grandson out of some criminal trouble,” a common scam deception. The woman “was stopped before doing so thanks to the Kum and Go clerk who saw the red flags.”
  • Jackson Lee Norton, 24, 502 W. Market St., #203, Panora, was arrested on a Dallas County warrant on a charge of second-degree robbery.
  • A 17-year-old male from Perry was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree criminal mischief.
  • A caller from a local group home said “one of her consumers was trying to pick the lock on the medicine cabinet and harm herself.” Officers responded and “transported the patient to the Dallas County Hospital for mental evaluation.” Three hours later, an “emergency room nurse called requesting assistance with a patient who was up and walking around and threatening to harm herself.” Officers responded.
  • A caller from Common Grounds Crisis Line said a woman was “threatening suicide.” The caller said the woman “has a plan in place, past attempts and means to do it.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said someone “dressed in a clown suit and mask just jumped out in front of her vehicle.” The caller said “she was very scared and did not go home due to her residence being in that area.” An officer responded but did not find the clown.
  • A caller said he “received a text message and a picture of a clown sighting by the Progressive Foundry.” An officer responded but did not find the clown, who “was in full clown costume and had a weird hat on” in the caller’s picture.
  • A caller reported “an employee who is working at this time” and “has been making threats to harm himself.” The caller said the employee “has PTSD” and “has threatened to stab himself or suicide by cop.” The caller said the employee “has four knives in his vehicle.” An officer responded, but the employee “was gone upon the officer’s arrival.” Officers later “came into contact with” the employee, who was transported “to Dallas County Hospital for a mental evaluation.”

  • A caller said “her husband is not letting her sleep.” She said “there was a verbal altercation, and he won’t stop arguing.” An officer responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
