Perry Police Report Sept. 16

  • A caller said he caught “a white rabbit with black floppy ears” running at large. An officer responded and alerted the Human Society of Perry, who directed authorities to “put the rabbit in a cat cage” so the society could “transport it to Des Moines to a shelter that houses rabbits.”
  • A caller said “two kids about 8-10 years of age” were “riding a lawn mower for several blocks” on a city street. An officer responded and found the children gainfully employed for a local lawn service, and there were “no concerns for their behavior.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. “requesting gas assistance as her family is going through a tough time.” An officer responded and referred the suffering person to “the Perry Ministerial Association to try and assist the family.”
  • A caller reported a cat running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.
  • A caller said a traffic light stopped working at the intersection of Iowa Highway 141 and First Avenue. Officers responded, verified the report and alerted the Perry Public Works Department.
  • A caller said “a loaned cat trap was missing from his residence.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “a football player was having trouble breathing.” Officers responded and Dallas County EMS was paged.
  • Jason Edward Pierce, 44, 1009 Evelyn St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of driving under revocation.
  • A caller said a man “has been in and out of the store several times this evening.” The caller said the man “told the clerk that he was in Perry looking for a job.” The caller said the man was “not in a vehicle.” The caller found the man and his circumstances suspicious. Officers responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
