September 26, 2016

  • A caller said he “lost some keys for a black drill at Michel’s construction site.” An officer responded and spoke with the caller.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department encountered a driver in a vehicle “with a right read tire completely blown out.” Two officers assisted the driver by “providing an escort” to a local repair shop.
  • A caller “with Iowa One” requested “an emergency locate by the Perry Water Works” of “an exposed high-voltage power line and a damaged telephone line.” The Perry Police Department alerted the Perry Water Works.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department found “a tree had split in half and fallen into the street, closing Willis Avenue.” The Perry Public Works Department was alerted. The officer “remained on scene to assist in directing traffic.”
  • A caller reported a “suspicious vehicle” with a “loud muffler.” The said suspected the driver of the vehicle was “dumpster diving.” An officer responded and “found nothing out of the ordinary.”
  • A caller said “she had just been scammed by a business called Safe Cart.” The caller said she “was taken for $98 the first time, and then a couple of days later” she found “a $69.89 charge on her bank statement.” The caller said “her computer had been hacked and wanted more money.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said “his daughter’s vehicle was just egged.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a girl standing, trying to flag down traffic” south of Perry. The caller said she “was afraid to stop but did not see any vehicles around.” The Dallas County Sheriff’s office was alerted but “had no deputy in the area.” The Dallas County Sheriff’s office requested the Perry Police Department to “respond and check out if available.” Officers responded but did not find anyone in the area.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. The dog was “a little dachshund” with “its tongue hanging out.” Officers responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.

September 27, 2016

  • A caller said a vehicle was speeding on a city street. An officer responded but did not find the speeder.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
