Perry Police Report Sept. 30

September 29, 2016

  • A caller said “her husband was going to go empty out the coin machine” when he found “it has been broken into.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said he ” was driving by and noticed” a man “wearing camo and a red shirt” in a vehicle. The caller “wasn’t sure he was breaking into the vehicle,” but he “just did not have a good feeling about it.” Officers responded and found the man “was working on the vehicle.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department with “a stray black cat she found sitting on her front porch.” An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department in order “to speak to an officer about some harassing phone calls he’s been receiving.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said she received a telephone call from someone claiming to be “from the office of investigation fraud unit.” The caller said she believed it was a scam. An officer responded.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.
  • A caller reported “a possible hitchhiker walking on Iowa Highway 144 near the Country Club road.” The caller said the male hitchhiker was walking northbound with a backpack. The Boone County Sheriff’s office was alerted. A second caller reported a hitchhiker on Iowa Highway 144 near County Road P54. The caller said “he thought the person was female” and “said he doesn’t know where the person went, but the backpack is lying off to the side of 144 on the west side of the roadway,” with “no one around.”  The Boone County Sheriff’s office was again alerted. A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department and said the hitchhiker “was a woman” and was “difficult to see in the dark.” An officer responded and made contact with the hitchhiker, who said she was “walking to her friends'” residence and “was one block from it.”
  • A caller said she “has her front door egged.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “the trees in front of her house have been TPed.” An officer responded.

September 30, 2016

  • A caller said two dogs were running at large. An officer responded.

* A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
