Three couples pose backstage before the walk-in at the 2018 Perry prom. Walk-in will begin at 5 p.m. when "A Night at the Oscars" premieres April 27.

The red carpet will be out, the camera flashes of the local paparazzi prolific and the calls for “one more picture” sure to be as numerous as the kernels in a large popcorn when “A Night at the Oscars” serves as the theme for Perry’s 2019 prom.

The Junior Class has worked hard to create an affair that will be high on glitz and glamour, and the celebrities will take their strolls before an adoring public one hour earlier than at past showcases, with the walk-in beginning at 5 p.m. Doors at the Performing Arts Center will open to the public at 4 p.m.

The star-studded evening will then switch to the Iowa National Guard Armory, with dinner served from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Catering duties are under the experienced auspices of Lidderdale Country Store.

The dance itself will begin at 7:30 p.m. and end at 11:30 p.m.

After-prom will be held at Perry High School from 12 a.m. until 3 a.m. The nightcap will feature a hypnotist, numerous interactive activities and more. Munchies will abound to sate typical teen hunger and there will be drawings for numerous door prizes.

The junior class expressed their gratitude to the many local businesses who made financial donations toward the A-class event and for those businesses who have also donated door prizes for the after-prom.

The spotlights will shine on one of the larger number of attendees to recent Perry proms, thanks in part to the size of the junior class. A total of 241 tickets have been sold, and the tinsel town gossip reports all 241 are excited for what is certain to be the most prestigious event on the school year calendar.
