Repaving began Thursday on the parking lot of the Perry Public Safety building at 908 Willis Ave. The building houses the Perry Police Department and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.

Resurfacing work also continued on side streets around Perry, with Sixth and 10th streets north of Willis Avenue receiving the Des Moines Asphalt and Paving treatment Thursday as part of the 60-block resurfacing project.

Concrete repairs on First Avenue (Iowa Highway 144) moved south of Willis Avenue this week, including partial-depth and full-depth patching. Caution is still urged to motorists as they pass work crews and traffic-control devices.

The minor disruptions of traffic caused by Des Moines Asphalt and Paving work crews are limited primarily to daylight hours, according to the Perry City Hall.

The repaving and reconfiguration of First Avenue is fully funded by the Iowa Department of Transportation and costs Perry residents nothing in city taxes. The 60-block overlay project on Perry’s side streets, also to be done by Des Moines Asphalt, will be paid for with Local Option Sales Tax and Road Use Tax funds.

For more information about the public works projects, call the Perry City Hall at 515-465-2481 or Jacob Ahrens with Bolton and Menk Inc. at 515-233-6100.
