A pair of freshmen each drove in two runs for host Perry Wednesday, helping the Jayettes to a 5-4 win over Carroll in Raccoon River Conference action.
The win is the second consecutive for Perry, who improved to 3-8 overall and 1-6 in RRC play while Carroll fell to 8-8 and 0-7.
Aidyn Hood and Maci Tunink had two RBIs apiece for the Jayettes, with Lydia Olejniczak also driving in a run. Olejniczak scored twice, with Macy Killmer, Peyton Tunink, and Jasmine Shriver also crossing the dish.
Olejnicak walked and later scored on a Hood base hit to tie the game at 1-all in the bottom of the first.
Carroll scored twice in the third to grab a 3-1 lead, but Shriver was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored when Olejniczak singled. Olejniczak would later speed home and beat the throw from left field to tie the game on a sacrifice fly from Hood.
Killmer reached on an error and Peyton Tunink singled to spark the Jayette rally in the sixth. Both raced home when Maci Tunink ripped a clean single for a pair of RBIs.
The Tigers threatened in the seventh and closed to within a run, but a RBI-ground out with one down that trimmed the margin to 5-4 was followed by a pop out to end the contest.
Jayna Kenney allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk in collecting the win. She finished with three strikeouts.
