MARSHALLTOWN — The Perry Reds 14-under (14U) softball team made the 80-mile drive east down U.S. 30 to Marshalltown last weekend to participate in the Marshalltown Summer Blast tournament.
Perry opened play with an 8-2 win over Nevada, then scored a 6-2 victory against a traditionally strong program from East Marshall.
Host Marshalltown spoiled thoughts of a championship, as the Bobcats scored a 6-5 win to claim first place.
The 14U Reds are Sydney Barkley, Torie Devilbliss, Addison Huntington, Jayna Kenney, Macy Killmer, Lydia Olejniczak, Nubia Torres, Kennedy Tunink, Maci Tunink and Peyton Tunink.
