HUXLEY — The Perry Speech Team sent 10 entries to the District Large Group contest recently and left with an impressive showing of eight Division 1 ratings and two Divsion 2 ratings.
Those earning Division 1 ratings earn the right the advance to the State Contest in Waukee.
Brooke Huntington, Janet Ortiz, Alicia Calderon, Mariah McNamara and Sarah Sweet qualified in Readers Theater, with Lauren Benjamin, Dax Kresse and Devon Archer qualified in Radio News Broadcasting while Rebecca Dobson, Ana Rosa Funez and Allie Hopkins will advance in Group Improv.
Two groups entered in TV News Broadcasting advanced, with Kevin Lopez, Brandon Juarez, Gage Welch and Alvaro Soto in one group and Hannah Sackett, Abbi Weir, Sarah Sweet and Adrian Thompson in another.
Advancing in Ensemble Acting were the pairings of Amani Al-Rashid and Karley Whelchel and the duo of Lauren Benjamin and Allie Hopkins while Skylar Cunningham and Sidney Vancil qualified in the category of Short Film.
Two groups competing in Improv: the quartet of John Borjas, Trinity Summerson, Madison Mason and Camden Studer and the trio of Abbi Weir, Dax Kresse and Lauren Benjamin both earned Division 2 ratings.
