JEFFERSON — While the Perry Summer Swim Team did not depart Jefferson with an IWSC victory Thursday, the 334-289 final was the best showing by the PSST in several seasons against their rivals from Greene County.

The close loss followed a 343-235 win at Sac City in Tuesday’s opener, with both meets showing the promise of a strong summer season to come.

Sophia McDevitt (9-10), Haileigh Kenyon (15-18) and Haley Vaughn (15-18) all had five wins for the Perry girls at Jefferson, with Maddie McDevitt (8U) and Addison Huntington (9-10) both winning four times.

Jaylene Karolus (11-12) had three victories, with Lilly Riley and Jenna Nelson (both 9-10) and Breanna Penenger and Steph Hill (both 15-18) winning two times apiece while Sarah Vaughn (13-14) was first to the wall once.

Chase Archer and Drew Storey (both 13-14) had five wins for the PSST boys, with Cristopher Gonzalez (11-12), Riese Archer and Andrew Dowd (both 13-14) and Alex Thompson, Devon Archer, Connor Nielsen and Ethan Winey (all 15-18) tallying two wins apiece. Garrett Winey (9-1) also had a victory for the boys squad.

Victories were far more common at Sac City, with Sophia McDevitt (9-10), Kenyon and Haley Vaughn (15-18) five-time victors while Huntington (9-10) and Sarah Vaughn (13-14) both touched first three times.

Double-wins went to Riley and Nelson (both 9-10), Avery Miner, Dannah Karolus and Abby Herman (all 13-14) and Hill and Penenger (both 15-18) while Maddie McDevitt (8U) and Jaylene Karolus (11-12) also posted victories.

Garrett Winey (9-10) and Storey (13-14) were a perfect 5-for-5 in the win category for the boys, with Gonzalez, Brady Herman and Sam Ridnour (all 11-12) joined by Chase Archer (13-14) in posting four victories.

Winning twice for the boys were Andy Schuttler (8U) and Thad Stewart, Wesley Royer and Josh Prombo (all 9-10), with Logan Castillo (11-12) and Riese Archer (13-14) also posting two wins.
