Perry swim team leaves Manning in their wake

A little silliness never hurt anyone, as these members of the Perry Summer Swim Team show before a recent meet. The team will host Glidden Tuesday in their regular season finale.

MANNING — Thursday’s IWSC meet between visiting Perry and Manning turned into a showcase for the visitors, as 40 different members of Perry’s squad recorded at least one victory in a 406-157 win.

Five-time winners dotted the Perry lineup, with Maddie McDevitt (8U), Sophia McDevitt (9-10) and Haley Vaughn (15-18) scoring five victories for the girls team while Kane Mahler-Moreno, Garrett Winey (9-10), Drew Storey (13-14) and Devon Archer (15-18) had quintuple wins for the boys.

Addison Huntington (9-10), Sarah Vaughn (13-14) and Haileigh Kenyon (15-18) had four wins apiece for the girls, with Dessie Castillo, Aleah Karolus and Sara Prombo (all 8U), Lilly Riley (9-10), Abby Herman, Avery Miner and Dannah Karolus (all 13-14) and Stephanie Hill and Breanna Penenger (both 15-18) all recording double wins. Emily Dowd and Quin Mahler (both 9-10) and Jaylene Karolus (11-12) had single victories for Perry.

Ethan Winey (15-18) had four wins for the boys, with Townes Wilson (8U), Josh Prombo (9-10), Cristopher Gonzalez (11-12) and Connor Nielsen (15-18) all recording three first-place finishes.

Boys winning twice included: Owen Royer and Andy Schuttler (both 8U), Wesley Royer and Thad Stewart (both 9-10), Brady Herman and Marcus Nelsen (both 11-12), Chase Archer, Riese Archer and Andrew Dowd (all 13-14) and Alex Thompson (15-18) while Boomer Deardorff (8U) and Logan Castillo and Ian Thompson (both 11-12) tallied single wins for the guests.

Perry hosts Glidden Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in their regular season finale. The IWSC meet will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday in Guthrie Center.
