
The 2015 regular season ended for the Perry swim team at the MCB pool Monday as the Jayettes hosted Algona and Carroll for a double-dual, in which each team is scored individually against both opponents.
Carroll, with many more swimmers than Algona and Perry combined, had little trouble in collecting wins of 72-20 over Perry and of 78-12 against Algona. The Jayettes came up just short to Algona, falling, 46-43.
The Jayettes saluted their lone senior, co-captain Haileigh Kenyon, during the meet. Kenyon, a long-time member of the summer swim team as well, went out in style with a 3-1 mark in her two individual swims.

Kenyon bested both Algona and Carroll swimmers in the 100 freestyle with a winning time of 1 minute, 1.14 seconds and was first against Algona and second to Carroll in the 200 free with a time of 2:16.71.


Breanna Ackerman (1:20.99) also swam the 100 free, and Anna Ridnour (2:35.81) the 200 free for the Jayettes.
Junior Haley Vaughn also gave Perry victories in individual events. Her personal-best time of 2:30.4 in the 200 individual medley topped both opponents, and she was first against Algona and third to Carroll in the 100 breaststroke in 1:21.27. Ridnour also swam in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:33.37.

Breanna Peneger’s 6:23.96 clocking in the 500 free was first against Algona and third to Carroll, with Gonzalez second to Algona and third to Carroll in the 100 backstroke in 1:21.89.
The 50 free had Gonzalez second to Algona and third to Carroll in 31.62 seconds, with Ackerman swimming the event in 36.43.
Perry’s 200 medley relay foursome of Kenyon, Penenger, Vaughn and Gonzalez was first against Algona and second to Carroll in 2:16.99 with Vaughn, Ridnour, Penenger, Kenyon first to Algona and third to Carroll in the 200 free relay in 1:59.36.
Gonzalez, Ackerman, Ridnour and Penenger were second to Algona and third to Carroll in the 400 free relay with a time of 4:51.13.
Perry will visit Johnston’s Summit Middle School for their Regional Meet at 12 p.m. Oct. 31. Other teams at the venue will be Atlantic, Carroll, Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln, Des Moines Hoover, Marshalltown, Mason City, West Des Moines Valley and host Johnston.
