
GRINNELL, IOWA — Sheer roster numbers helped Grinnell hand visiting Perry a 102-64 loss Tuesday.
The Tiger also scored points from three divers (Perry does not have a diving team) to offset wins in 7-of-11 events by the Jayettes.
Perry won the 200 medley relay in 2 minutes, 11.68 seconds, with Sophia McDevitt, Jaylene Karolus, Zoe Hibbert and Lily Riley swimming for the guests. The same quartet won the 400 free relay in 4:11.67, with McDevitt, Riley, Emily Dowd and Jenna Nelson second in the 200 free relay in 2:03.09.
Karolus won both the 50 free (26.22) and 100 butterfly (1:04.62), with McDevitt claiming the 100 backstroke (1:09.95) and Riley the 500 free (6:12.37).
Hibbert posted a personal best time of 2:38.3 (a drop of 4.11 seconds) to win the 200 IM, with Dowd fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:45.19).
Hibbert was second in the 100 free in 1:03.91 and Nelson third in 1:08.02, with Nelson third (2:22.43) and Dowd fourth (2:30.89) in the 200 free. Dowd’s time was a new PB in 1.9 ticks.
Perry returns to action Tuesday when they host Atlantic and Spencer at the MCB pool. The meet will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be the annual Jayette Pink Out in honor of breast cancer awareness.
