BOONE — Host Boone posted wins over both Perry and Algona Tuesday, with Perry defeating Algona in a three-team format that calls for each team to be scored separately against each opponent.
Boone was a 77-17 winner over Perry and a 78-16 victor against Algona, with Perry claiming a 56-38 decision over Algona.
The Perry 200 medley foursome of Vivian Gonzalez, Anna Ridnour, Sarah Vaughn and Abby Herman finished 3-2 (results against Boone, Algona) in 2 minutes, 20.86 seconds, with the 200 freestyle quartet of Ridnour, Herman, Amanda Holwegner and Danna Karolus 3-2 in 2:04.2. The 400 free relay unit of Vaughn, Karolus, Avery Miner and Breanna Penenger were 3-1 in 4:27.28.
Penenger and Miner were the two Perry entrants in both the 200 and 500 free events. Penenger was 2-1 in the former in 2:15.06, with Miner second to Algona in 2:31.1. Penenger’s season-best 6:06.59 was 2-1 in the 20-lap 500 free while Miner placed second to Algona in 6:55.9, her first sub-seven minute time in only her third competitive swim at the distance.
Karolus was 3-1 in the 200 individual medley in 2:44.07, with Ridnour second to Algona in 2:31.1 in the event. Herman was 3-3, in 30.93, in the 50 free, with Karolus 3-1 in the 100 free in 1:06.4 while Herman was second to Algona in 1:07.63.
A clocking of 1:21.68 placed Vaughn 3-2 in the 100 butterfly, with Gonzalez third to Algona in 1:25.88. Gonzalez was 3-1, in 1:20.2, in the 100 backstroke, with Vaughn close behind and placing second against Algona in 1:20.4. Ridnour was 2-1 in the 100 breaststroke — the final individual event at meets — in 1:28.23.
Perry will be action today (Sept. 7) at Des Moines Roosevelt in another double-dual, with Indianola also to compete. The Jayettes will then be off for more than a week before competing Sept. 16 at the Fort Dodge Invitational.
