Julio Adrian Ruiz, 18, of Perry was arrested Wednesday on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault and assault causing bodily injury.

A Perry teenager allegedly assaulted his sister and mother Wednesday evening in a drunken quest for cash.

Julio Adrian Ruiz, 18, of 1421 Fifth St., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault and assault causing bodily injury.

The incident began about 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of Fifth Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of “an intoxicated male” who was “demanding money from his sister,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that Ruiz showed up drunk and “began demanding money” from the victim. “When he did not get it, he became more aggressive toward” the victim and the victim’s mother, according to court records.

Ruiz allegedly assaulted the victim “by grabbing her by the arm and leaving scratches on it” and allegedly assaulted the victim’s mother “by shoving her down onto the couch in the living room,” according to court records.

Ruiz also allegedly “destroyed property inside the residence that belonged to” the victim’s mother.

The victim’s boyfriend had to “physically restrain” Ruiz “on the floor of the living room” prior to the officers’ arrival, according to court records.

Ruiz is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $300 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

Ruiz was arrested Feb. 12, 2021, on a Dallas County warrant for assault in connection with an Oct. 7, 2020, incident in Perry in which he allegedly “punched and then chased the victim after pulling him out of a vehicle against his will,” according to court records. The case is pending in Dallas County District Court.
