Perry, W-G track teams compete at Carroll co-ed meet

CARROLL — The boys and girls track teams from Perry and Woodward-Granger should have had their first encounter of the season at the Cavanaugh Relays in Woodward April 9, but rain postponed the meet to Friday, with Perry opting not to attend.

Rather than meeting in Dallas County, the two squads each participated at the same meet this season Monday at Carroll in the Tiger Coed Relays.

The Perry placed fifth and W-G sixth in the eight-team boys field, with Perry fourth and W-G seventh on the girls side of the meet.

Carroll won the boys competition with 131 points, with IKM-Manning second at 124. Greene County was third with 93 points, with Audubon (64), Perry (59), W-G (40), MVAO (36) and Glidden-Ralston (11) rounding out the field. Greene County (177) dominated the girls side, with MVAO (99), IKM-Manning (87), and Perry (69) the top four. Audubon and Carroll tied for fifth with 54 points apiece while W-G finished with 48 points.

The Bluejays had three wins Monday, with Scott James clearing a personal-best 6 feet, four inches in the high jump for the first victory. Keegan Pfau won the 3200 in 10 minutes, 23.83 seconds and later anchored the winning medley relay team that finished in 3:50.32, with Nic Wilhelmi, Eli Saemisch and Marcus Meri running the first three legs.

Wilhelmi, Saemisch, James and Reece Dunlap were third in the 4×100 in 46.41, with Dunlap fourth in the 200 (24.19) and Saemisch fourth in the 100 (12.05) while Daniel Cole placed sixth in the 110 hurdles (17.74) and Keegan Wolfe sixth in the 400 hurdles (1:02.86).

Names were not provided for Perry relays that were third in the 4×800 (9:25.6), fourth in the 4×200 (1:39.75) and fifth in both the shuttle hurdle (1:10.02) and 4×400 (3:49).

Kaleb Noel was second for W-G in the 400 hurdles in 58.59, with Michael Connor third in the discus with a spin of 127’11.

Hawk relay quartets (names n/a) were second in the 4×200 (1:38.82) and 4×800 (8:57), third in the medley (3:52.68) and fourth in the 4×400 (3:37.3).

Grace Stewart and Leah Reuter were 1-3 for Perry in the girls 3000 in times of 12:21.4 and 13:01.4, respectively, with Emma Olejniczak (1:07.29) and Isabel Saemisch (1:09.78) 1-3 in the 400.

Jayette senior Maggie Lowe was second in the 200 (28.76) and third in the 100 (13.68), with Mariah Duffy fourth in the 1500 (5:38.81) while Stewart placed fifth in the 800 (2:48.18).

Olejniczak, Duffy, Sidney Vancil and Breana Penenger were third in the 4×800 (10:45.9), with Olejniczak, Penenger, Lowe and Haileigh Kenyon fifth in the 4×400 in 4:35.66, a drop of 17 seconds off their time in the Davis Relays.

Amy Marckres, Claire Marburger, Vancil and Miah York were fifth in the sprint medley (2:09.92) and Marckres, Marburger, Kenyon and May Wilhelmi fifth in the distance medley (5:10.3).

Senior Abby Musser had a strong meet for the Hawks, winning the 100 in 13.66 and 400 hurdles in 1:08.28 while placing second in the 100 hurdles in 16.6 ticks.

W-G’s Josie Baumgartner was fourth in the 200 (29.29). with Savannah David fourth behind Musser in the 400 hurdles (1:20.88) while Maddie Anderson was fourth in the 400 (1:09.91).

Relay names were not provided for W-G units that were third in the 4×400 (4:34.14), fifth in the 4×800 (11:12.7) and shuttle hurdle (1:27.83) and sixth in the 4×200 (2:05.16) and distance medley (5:10.3).

Delaney Bice’s push of 28 feet, 1 inch in the shot put placed sixth, the only points either W-G or Perry would score in the field events.
