A Perry woman was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly trying to run over her former husband.

Rosa Amelia Perez Diaz, 54, of 1715 Second St., Perry, was charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, willful injury causing bodily injury and first-offense domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury.

The incident began about 9:45 a.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of 141st Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a person struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that his ex-wife allegedly “tried to kill him and hit him with her car,” according to court records.

Several witnesses observed the incident, which was also recorded by a surveillance camera. In the video, a white Nissan Rogue is seen to stop outside a local retail store and when the victim exited the store and entered the crosswalk, the white Rogue drove “at a high rate of speed” toward the victim, striking him and “forcing him onto the hood of the vehicle and on to the windshield” before he “then falls to the concrete,” according to court records.

The victim “sustained injuries to his head and hand,” according to court records.

Perez Diaz was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $9,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 14 in Dallas County District Court.
