Ivonne Yamilet Gomez, 21, of Perry was arrested Sunday on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

A Perry woman was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly assaulting a Perry man.

Ivonne Yamilet Gomez, 21, of 1219 30th St., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident occurred about 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of First Avenue, where Gomez allegedly “punched” the victim “in the head, face and body” in the course of a domestic dispute, according to court records.

Officers of the Perry Police Department observed on the victim “a visible redness around his eye” and “a small scratch mark on his chest,” according to court records.

Gomez was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 23 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
