Christina Ann Steil, 36, of Perry was arrested Sunday afternoon on charges of controlled substance violation, failure to affix drug stamp, first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A Perry woman was arrested Sunday afternoon for allegedly possessing more than five grams of methamphetamine and a quantity of marijuana.

Christina Ann Steil, 36, of 2902 Iowa St., #26, Perry, was charged with controlled substance violation, failure to affix drug stamp, first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The incident began about 4:45 p.m. Sunday when the Perry Police Department received a 911 call for a fight in the 2900 block of Iowa Street. An officer responded and located Steil, who matched the caller’s description.

According to court records, the 911 caller said Steil was possibly in possession of a handgun, so the officer asked for permission to search Steil’s purse, and Steil consented.

As Steil opened her purse, “the officer saw a glass jar that contained a green, leafy material” that the officer recognized as marijuana, according to court records.

A further inspection of the purse revealed “four clear, plastic baggies that contained a white, crystal-like substance” that field tested positive for methamphetamine, according to court records. The weight of the meth exceeded five grams.

Steil is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $100,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 16 in Dallas County District Court.

Steil was previously convicted of first-offense possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine in 2017 in Dallas County District Court.
