Perry woman faces assault charge in folded-stroller incident

A Perry woman was arrested early Sunday after allegedly striking a man in the head with a folded stroller.

Felisha Laupe Martinez, 34, of 806 William St., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 1 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of William Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with Martinez that “the victim struck her with a folded stroller on her right forearm first,” according to court records. The victim said that Martinez “struck him with the folded stroller first.”

Martinez “did not have any visible injuries,” but the victim “had numerous red marks, as well as two bumps on his forehead and a large swelling/bump on his left forearm,” according to court records.

Martinez was held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
