Perry's Kaleb Olejniczak works to control Panorama's Danny Nordquist in the 126-pound semifinal at the Perry Invite last season. The annual event returns to the PHS gym Saturday.

CRESTON — Winterset handed Perry a 57-12 setback, with host Creston/Orient-Macksburg posting a 54-26 win over the Bluejays in a triangular Thursday. Winterset was a 40-33 winner over C/O-M in the other dual.

Three Perry matmen — Cole Nelson (106 pounds), Kaleb Olejniczak (138) and Cole Snyder (182) collected wins in both of their matches.

Nelson recorded pins for both of his victories, with Snyder recording a pin before collecting a win in sudden victory I.

Olejniczak won by technical fall against C/O-M and then drew Winterset junior Kruise Kiburz, who stepped up from 132, where he is ranked third. Ranked second at 138, Olejniczak defended his position, scoring a 6-3 win in a solid test.

Also earning wins for Perry were Justin Stammer (152) and Bryan Funez (145), both of who won against the hosts. Stammer earned six team points for a pin, with Funez adding three to the team total with a win by decision.
