Perry wrestling standout Olejniczak named Academic All-State

Kaleb Olejniczak stands third at 138 pounds at the 2A state tourney Saturday. The Perry senior, who finished with a school-best 180 victories, was recently named an Academic All-State selection for the third time.

Add more one plaudit to the outstanding prep wrestling career of Perry senior Kaleb Olejniczak — he was recently named Academic All-State by thepredicament.com.

It is the third such honor for Olejniczak, a four-time state tournament qualifier and three-time place-winner.

Olejniczak, who will wrestle for the University of Northern Iowa, was 47-2 this season while finishing third in Class 2A at 138 pounds. He was the 3A state runner-up at 126 as a junior and was fourth at 113 pounds in 2A as a sophomore after reaching the tourney, but not the podium, as a freshman.

He leaves as Perry’s all-time victory leader, finishing with a career mark of 180-21 (.896).
