Perry senior David Cardenas made it official Monday morning in the Brady Library at PHS when he singed a National Letter of Intent to continue his soccer career at Grandview University in Des Moines.

Cardenas leads Perry (12-3) with 13 goals, 10 assists and 36 points (two points are awarded for a goal, one for an assist). His goals total is tied for third in the Raccoon River Conference; he leads the RRC in assists and recently set the Perry school record for assists in a single game with four.

The Vikings are coached by Edinburgh, Scotland native Blair Reid, who has 31 years of experience as a head coach. Installed into the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2001, Reid was a driving force in having soccer added as a prep sport. Grandview is 341-199-30 under Reid.

Perry senior David Cardenas brings the ball under control against ADM May 10. Cardenas, who had both goals in a 2-0 win for the Bluejays, announced Monday he will take his talents to Grandview University.
