Puente played for DMACC last season and is currently pitching for Catawba Valley in North Carolina as part of summer league play. He was spotted by Wabash Valley scouts while in North Carolina and agreed to move on to WVC and coach Rob Fournier.

The former Bluejay standout said the Warriors were interested in developing his skills on the mound. WVC pitching coach Jeff Bolen played professionally and will be working with Puente as part of new-look staff for next year.

Mt. Carmel is located along the Illinois-Indiana border in southeastern Illinois, approximately 50 miles north of Evanston, Indiana, or 150 miles due east of St. Louis.
