The Perry Jayettes hosted Saydel for a junior varsity/varsity set of non-conference games Thursday, but it was who the “big” girls were visited by between games that generated plenty of excitement of its own.

Members of the Perry Girls Softball Association were on hand at the PAC and had the opportunity to mingle with their prep heroines before the ceremonies began.

Team and players were introduced and the youngsters ran through a double-line of Jayettes and out to the pitching circle, where they received a medal from their coach. After all teams were introduced the players — standing between third and second base — received a rousing round of applause.

Players were given posters as they left the field, which they could chose to have signed by Jayette players at the end of the varsity game, which was a 5-2 Perry victory.
