FORT DODGE — No. 7 Oskaloosa defeated Perry, 3-1, in Wednesday Class 4A State Quarterfinal, the first of three wins for the eventual state champion Indians. Perry fell into the consolation bracket, where the 15th-ranked Jayettes topped No. 14 Creston, 6-0, before falling to unranked Charles City, 11-7, in the fifth-place game. Perry was 25-14 overall in placing sixth. During the season they whipped 1A state champion Kee, 10-0, and defeated 2A champion Van Meter, 9-6.
