Mark Eppert of Perry, a well-known figure at Perry High School who died Monday from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident in Des Moines, was honored by a memorial escort on the way to funeral services Saturday morning at the Crossroads Church in Perry.

A Perry Volunteer Fire Department ladder truck led a group of more than 40 motorcyclists in solemn procession to the church.

“Mark was more than a custodian and groundskeeper to us,” said PHS senior Avery Miner. “He was the person who cared about us like his own kids. Mark did so much for the band and the Skills USA/TSA students. He did things for us wit out even being asked. He already knew what we needed. Mark is surely missed by all of us.”

Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Madrid, Iowa, at a later date. Memorials should be directed to the Perry High School Industrial Tech Department.
