Hundreds of Perry High School graduates from the Reagan era filled Second Street in downtown Perry Friday night for a city-sponsored street dance.

The block between Warford and Lucinda streets was mostly occupied by graduates in town for the All ’80s Class Reunion, but many older and younger merrymakers also attended, dancing to the tunes of the Standing Hampton band.

The decade-wide reunion will continue Saturday night at the Perry Elks Lodge, where local favorites Rukkus, nostalgically known as Phyx, will play all their favorites.

The party starts Saturday at 6:30 p.m., with the band taking the stage about 8 p.m. A $10 fun charge will cover the cost of food and more.

The planning committee for the All ’80s event was spearheaded by Elise “Beanie” Shirley Reiser of Waukee, PHS Class of 1981, and Jennifer Sayers of Des Moines, PHS Class of 1981, designed the reunion logo.
