The annual Perry High School Homecoming Parade was a rousing success Wednesday night, and it followed the yearly PHS Volunteer Day, with students providing a variety of free services across the community, such as mowing lawns and painting downtown windows.

The new parade route was lined with enthusiastic Bluejay supporters, who praised the new arrangements.

The Perry Class of 2024 and Perry Booster Club will serve free-will pork loin sandwich dinners in the PHS parking lot until 8 p.m., when coronation ceremonies will begin in the PHS varsity gymnasium.

Homecoming 2022 queen candidates are Taylor Atwell, Cloe Nance, Lydia Olejniczak, Yamilet Ortega and Sarai Ramos. Candidates for king are Fithawi Andemichael, Anthony Chavez, Jonathan Chavez, Jefry Gonzalez and Kyle Hernandez.

Perry will host Des Moines Hoover at 7 p.m. Friday for the Homecoming football game, and the 2022 PHS Homecoming Dance will be held Saturday night in the PHS from 8-11 p.m.
