The PHS Pulse Dance Team will stage its 13th annual Spring Showcase Friday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Perry High School gymnasium. Admission is $5.

“We will perform all of our dances from this year, plus we will have students from K-5 performing a couple of dances,”said PHS Pulse Coach Faye Southward, “and 6-8 will be performing a glow stick routine with the high school team.”

The Spring Showcase is the team’s one annual fundraiser. Pulse dancers will perform all of their routines from the year, including their award-winning state hoopla routine, “Waterloo,” along with coed routines, lyrical routines and dance clinic routines.

“We will have lots of audience participation opportunities!” Southward said.

A bake sale during intermission and a glow stick sale afterward will also help raise funds toward next year’s team expenses. All proceeds go toward entry fees for state and other competitions as well as costumes, props, poms and choreography.

For the second year running, the Pulse Dance Team has been selected by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union to perform their state hoopla routine, “Waterloo,” at the halftime of the Iowa Girls State Basketball Tournament game at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, March 5 in Des Moines.

“Only 38 of the approximately 250 high school dance teams in Iowa were invited to perform this year, so this is a big honor,” Southward said. “If you have never attended our awesome Spring Showcase event, come check it out! If you’ve been to a Spring Showcase before, please come back for more fun and amazing dances!”
