The Perry High School Student Needs Fund received $7,300 Monday night at the third meeting of the 100+ People for Perry donors club. The student needs fund provides students in need and their families with support for basic supplies and services.

The 72 members of 100+ People for Perry met in the Cellar at La Poste and heard three of their members each make a pitch on behalf of a randomly selected project, with the PHS fund winning the vote.

The meeting began with an update by Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson on Habitat for Humanity’s Rock the Block project, which received $7,000 in 100+ People’s support at the May meeting.

This year’s Rock the Block rehabilitation event is set for Sept. 19 to Sept. 24, when eight families in eight houses will receive repair assistance. Interested Rock the Block volunteers are encouraged to sign up on the Habitat for Humanity website.

The Mount Olivet Lutheran Church’s bedding project received $5,000 at the first meeting of 100+ People for Perry in February.

The next 100+ People for Perry meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. at La Poste, 1219 Warford St. in Perry. The charitable group is accepting new donors.
