The Perry High School swim team traveled to Ames Saturday in order to swim in the Ames Invite, where the Jayettes placed fifth out of seven teams.

The Perry swimmers earned four four medals in individual events. Ten personal best times were set through the day, and two season best relay times were set.

“We had a great day today,” said Head Coach Jean Dowd. “The Ames facility is one of the best in the state.”

Ames High School captured first place. Cedar Rapids Kennedy, LinnMar High School and West Des Moines Valley rounded out the top four. Perry took fifth place, ahead of Indianola High School and Roosevelt High School.

“It was satisfying to finish ahead of Indianola,” Dowd said, “since they had finished ahead of us in two duals earlier this season. It shows how this team is progressing.”
