Preliminary plans are in the making for an all-’70s class reunion in the summer of 2017, an event uniting all Perry High School students who attended classes in the 1970s.
A team of eight PHS grads from that remote era gathered last week over refreshments at the Hotel Pattee to work on a game plan for the event, which was last staged in 2010 to great success.
“There’s lots of people we need contact information for,” said 1976 PHS graduate Denise Bice Niebuhr. “Not everybody’s on Facebook or even has email.”
The 2010 reunion was held over the Fourth of July weekend and drew hundreds of attendees. While called an all-’70s celebration, the event’s porous boundaries also attracted many former students from the 1960s and earlier, the 1980s and later and so forth.
“We were always pretty inclusive,” said 1979 graduate Peggy McLuen Coleman, “and our reunions are no exception. Everybody’s welcome.”
The organizing committee advises graduates to stay tuned for forthcoming announcements about opportunities to help plan and execute the reunion.
