Perry Police Department Chief Eric Vaughn was honored as the 2017 Perry Civil Servant of the Year Monday by the Perry Rotary Club.
Vaughn was presented with a plaque by Rotary Club President Kevin Videgar during the open forum portion of Monday night’s Perry City Council meeting. Videgar thanked Vaughn on behalf of the Rotarians and the community as a whole for his commitment to the safety of residents.
“The amount of time Eric continues to give to our community is remarkable and commendable,” Videgar said. “He is perpetually involving his department and himself in the community through education and training in public safety.”
Vaughn has been an officer in the Perry Police Department since 1997 and the department’s chief since 2014. His family was with him in the council chambers for the award presentation.
“I just appreciate being recognized by the people I work with and the people I serve,” Vaughn said. “I’m very honored.”
Vaughn was roundly applauded when presented with the award and at the conclusion of his remarks.
