A car fire was reported about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at 623 Grove St. in Perry.
Officers of the Perry Police Department battled the blaze with fire extinguishers until the Perry Volunteer Fire Department arrived and quickly controlled the fire, which appeared to start in the engine compartment.
“It started smoking,” said the owner of the four-door sedan. “We opened the hood and saw the wires burning, so we slammed the hood again right away.”
The cause of the fire in under investigation at this hour.
