Police search for injured driver who left scene of auto accident Sunday

Law enforcement authorities are searching for the driver of a Guthrie County vehicle that left the roadway on Iowa Highway 141 east of Dawson about 6:45 p.m. Sunday.

Law enforcement authorities are searching Sunday evening for the driver of a car that left the roadway and entered the ditch about 6:45 p.m. on Iowa Highway 141 east of Dawson.

A caller who reported the accident said the driver of the Mercury Cougar with Guthrie County plates was standing outside the vehicle and bleeding from the head. The caller also reported seeing a passenger in the vehicle.

By the time the Perry First Responders, Dallas County EMS and the Dallas County Sheriff’s office arrived on the scene, both the driver and passenger were gone.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s office called for aerial assistance in the search for the missing and possibly injured driver. Inquiries were also being made with the family of the registered owner of the vehicle.
