Porch pirate lifts lunch from quiet Adel subdivision Monday

A woman in a print dress and driving a white SUV made off with an Adel resident's online food delivery Monday afternoon.

A well-dressed woman in a white SUV was seen on security camera video Monday stealing home-delivered food from an Adel residence.

The theft occurred shortly before 1 p.m. in the 1700 block of S. 11th Street in Adel, where the woman in a floral-print dress and driving a white Ford Escape or similar vehicle approached the house, snatched the foodstuffs and made off brazenly.

“I just started meals with a local company to get a beak from busy mom life,” said the victim, who posted about the pilfering on Facebook.

The perpetrator was caught on the victim’s video doorbell security system. Local law enforcement was notified and initiated an investigation.

“She was driving really slow down the street, looking at people’s porches, from what I can tell on my security cams,” said a neighbor who also caught images of the thief on a home security system.

“The audacity of some people!” said a sympathetic Facebook commenter. “Geez, get a life.”
