W-G left fielder Marcus McConahay enjoyed a "snow cone" with this running catch earlier this season. Center fielder Race Brant backed up the play.

GRANGER — The Woodward-Granger baseball team might be excused for asking what more it was they needed to do.

W-G is 13-7 overall and 12-4 in West Central Conference play. Ogden is 16-9, 10-5 and was swept by the Hawks in head-to-head play twice this season, yet Ogden will serve as host site for the Class 2A District 14 semifinals July 12 and final on July 16.

A 5 p.m. game on July 12 will pit W-G against the winner of the July 9 meeting between Southeast Valley and the Woodward Academy. Ogden will play in the second game July 12 against the winner of South Central Calhoun and host Madrid in the second of the two July 9 games. The D14 Finals will be, as aforementioned, held in Ogden July 16 and will begin at 7 p.m.

The Substate 7 Final is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 19 in Boone. Teams in District 13 include CMB, PCM, South Hamilton, West Marshall and Des Moines Christian and Roland-Story, both of who have first round byes. Story City is the host site for the D13 semifinals and finals.
