The Bluejay and Jayette soccer teams will begin postseason play next week, with the route for a return trip to the state tournament for the Perry boys running through their home pitch.
Perry (12-3) has received a first-round bye in the boys Class 2A Substate 7 bracket. The Jays will await the winner of the May 26 meeting between Ballard and host Iowa Falls-Alden/AGWSR for a May 28 battle at Dewey Field. Perry defeated Ballard, 1-0, at Dewey Field May 5. Game time is 6 p.m.
A win would put the 2014 state runner-up in the Substate 7 Final May 30 on Dewey Field. CAL faces DC-G in the top half of the bracket, with the winner facing host Webster City May 28. The Substate Final will begin at 12 p.m.
The Perry girls will take to the road to square off with Des Moines Hoover at 6 p.m. May 29. The teams met at Dewey Field April 10, with the guests escaping with a 1-0 win. The victor May 29 would travel to ADM for a June 2 meeting, with the Substate Final June 8 in Ankeny, who faces the winner of the Norwalk vs. Des Moines North contest in the top half of the bracket.
