Students in the Everybody Wins! Iowa Power Reading Program at the Perry Elementary School received a special gift this week from the Perry Rotary Club: a copy of the children’s book, “The Magic Story of Tom and Rufus,” signed and inscribed by the local author Karol Crosbie of Perry.

The 28 kindergarten and first graders in the Power Reading Program work with 16 adult mentors who read with the youngsters every Wednesday throughout the school year.

The books were presented to the young readers by Gina Ruggle, Everybody Wins! Iowa coordinator of the Power Read Program, and Dirk Cavanaugh of the Perry Rotary Club.

Crosbie was on hand to sign and inscribe the books, and she was joined by reading mentor Janie Pennington in reading the book to the students.

“The Magic Story of Tom and Rufus” is published by Heuss Printing in Ames.
