The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2060 in Perry presented its annual Public Safety Awards Tuesday night at the monthly meeting of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.
VFW Post Commander Nathan Hoffman presented the VFW Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award to 24-year Perry Police Department Officer Wayne Schuttler.

“Officer Schuttler has always treated all citizens of Perry with dignity, respect and a sincere desire to help” and “is recognized by his calm, reassuring demeanor and compassion to all citizens of the community of Perry.”
Hoffman presented the VFW Firefighter of the Year Award to 37-year Perry Volunteer Fire Department firefighter Frank Eiteman.
Hoffman commended the “exceptional professionalism and unrelenting service” of Eiteman, who “has always set safety as a number one concern for the citizens of Perry.”
Eiteman’s exemplary performance “is in keeping with the extreme firefighting standards” of the PVFD, Hoffman said.
