Property owner disturbed when vehicle crashes into yard

A car crashed into a front yard in the 19000 block of Jewel Place about 9 p.m. Monday.

A householder in rural Perry received a rude awakening Monday night when a car crashed into his front yard and came to rest just a few yards from his house.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Dallas County EMS.

The incident occurred about 9 p.m. in the 19000 block of Jewel Place south of Perry, where a passenger car was traveling northbound and left the roadway, entered the west ditch and felled a fir tree in the yard at 19025 Jewel Place.

“I was just about to shut out the lights when I heard a strange sound,” the homeowner said. “That’s not fireworks, I said to myself. The next thing I knew there were all these emergency lights.”

The vehicle sustained significant front-end damage.

The incident is under investigation at this hour by the Dallas County Sheriff’s office. The Perry First Responders and Perry Volunteer Fire Department also responded. will update this story as information becomes available.
