Property owner disturbed when vehicle crashes into yard

A car crashed into a front yard in the 19000 block of Jewel Place about 9 p.m. Monday.

A householder in rural Perry received a rude awakening Monday night when a car crashed into his front yard and came to rest just a few yards from his house.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Dallas County EMS.

The incident occurred about 9 p.m. in the 19000 block of Jewel Place south of Perry, where a passenger car was traveling northbound and left the roadway, entered the west ditch and felled a fir tree in the yard at 19025 Jewel Place.

“I was just about to shut out the lights when I heard a strange sound,” the homeowner said. “That’s not fireworks, I said to myself. The next thing I knew there were all these emergency lights.”

The vehicle sustained significant front-end damage.

The incident is under investigation at this hour by the Dallas County Sheriff’s office. The Perry First Responders and Perry Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
