A caller’s report of an unknown man trying to enter a garage in the 1500 block of Otley Avenue in Perry about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday brought the Perry Police Department to the scene, with an officer tasering a suspect at the corner of Fourth and Evelyn streets.

The identity of the suspected prowler and the circumstances leading to the use of the taser have not been released at this hour. A taser is a non-lethal electroshock weapons often used by police to subdue fleeing, combative or potentially dangerous people.

The Dallas County EMS was paged to the scene, and paramedics examined the tasered suspect to verify his medical welfare before clearing him for transport to the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave.

An officer with a flashlight could be seen searching the area where the suspect was apprehended.

  1. Good work by the Perry PD. Getting jolted by a Taser is better than getting knocked upside the head with a stick, and both of these things are better than getting shot.
