The Perry Summer Swim Team was handed a surprise loss June 6 by host Guthrie Center, a result that must not have set well with the future Bluejays and Jayettes, as the team rebounded for a decisive win at Coon Rapids Tuesday and over rival Carroll Area Summer Swim at the MCB Pool Thursday.

Perry’s 293-289 win over CASS featured several new team and pool records, among which were the resetting of two marks that had stood for over 20 years.

Jaylene Karolus touched the wall in 32.47 seconds in the 13-14 girls 50 butterfly, taking down the team record of 33.42 established in 1995 by Janae Weiser. The other long-standing standard to fall was Dave Ellingson’s 31.41 in the boys 11-12 50 free, which was rewritten by Joel Storey at 31.24. Also making waves was Quin Mahler-Moreno’s new pool record in the girls 11-12 100 individual medley after she won in 1 minute, 16.04 seconds.

Jaylene Karolus and Sophia McDevitt (both 13-14) and 15-18 speedster Dannah Karolus all had a perfect result of five wins for PSST, with Zoe Hibbert and Mahler-Moreno (both 11-12) and Sarah Vaughn (15-18) all claiming four wins apiece.

Anna Ridnour (15-18) had three wins, with Maddie McDevitt and Lilly Riley (both 11-12), Addison Huntington and Jenna Nelson (both 13-14) and Abby Herman (15-18) each posted two wins for the hosts while Clara Noble (9-10) also had a victory.

Dysen Deardorff (8U) and Issaac Winey (9-10) were five-time winners for the boys squad, with Joel Storey (11-12) winning four times. Triple wins were recorded by Townes Wilson (9-10) and Garrett Winey (13-14), with Bryan Anderson (9-10) winning twice and Sam Noble (11-12) once.

PSST went outdoors to knock off host Coon Rapids Tuesday by a final of 327-257.

Quin Mahler-Moreno (11-12) had five wins, while Zoe Hibbert (11-12), Dannah Karolus (15-18), Jaylene Karolus and Sophia McDevitt (both 13-14) were quadruple winners. Lilly Riley (11-12) tallied three wins, with two wins apiece recorded by Maddie McDevitt (11-12) and Sarah Vaughn (15-18). Adding to the points total with single wins were Aleah Karolus (9-10), Addison Huntington and Jenna Nelson (both 13-14) and Abby Herman and Anna Ridnour (both 15-18).

The PSST boys were lead by five wins from 15-18 standout Ethan Winey, with Garrett Winey (13-14) adding four wins. Isaac Winey (9-10) and Joel Storey (11-12) both had three wins apiece, with double wins posted by Dysen Deardorff (8U), Bryan Anderson and Townes Wilson (both 9-10), Riese Archer, Isaac Noble, Jacob Storey and Dylan Winey (all 15-18) while Boomer Deardorff (9-10) and Sam Ridnour (15-18) had single wins.
