The festivities began Wednesday morning with the annual parade, which required nearly three quarters of an hour to pass most observers. Many veteran parade participants said it had been several years since they had seen such large crowds lining the route.
Activities continued throughout the afternoon and into the evening in Pattee Park, with the Perry Fine Arts Series hosting Grand Avenue Ruckus at the First United Methodist Church. A crowd of nearly 150 enjoyed the air-conditioned entertainment, with an ice cream social following. The fireworks display wrapped the holiday.
