The Raccoon River Pet Rescue in Perry is in the middle of a Facebook livestream fundraiser, with Kris Rotonda of Jordan’s Way hosting the high-energy four-hour event.
More than $3,000 were raised in the first hour of the Clear the Shelters fundraiser, which runs until 2 p.m. Thursday. Rotonda is on a 300-shelter nationwide tour, including his stop in Perry.
Among the special guests are Homer, a blind and deaf 15-year-old senior dog who needs a gentle resting place, and Macy, a great Dane with whom Rotonda will bathe once donations reach $10,000.
There are also many pies for many faces, including whipped cream treatments for Raccoon River Pet Rescue Manager Lexi Linton and volunteer Janelle Repp.
“Please join us, tag your friends, your local business partners and let’s have a fantastic time to benefit our beautiful animals! Your support is invaluable!” the Raccoon River Pet Rescue crew said.
