For all area animal lovers, it is time to apply your imagination to kitty costumery and doggy disguises for the Raccoon River Pet Rescue Trick or Treat Costume Contest.

In order to keep the event COVID-safe, the drive-through contest will be held Saturday, Oct. 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Raccoon River Pet Rescue, 14360 Ivy Place in Perry.

Stop by the shelter with your in-costume pet, and drop off your donation of pet food, kitty litter., pet toys or cash, and everyone will receive a holiday treat. Your in-costume pet will be photographed and entered in the RRPR Halloween Costume Contest.

The Perry facility is a no-kill shelter, providing adoption and surrender services. The rescue has 40 “kitty condos” and 15 dog kennels, each complete with a self-contained outside dog run, plus separate quarters for dog and cat quarantines and a room devoted to overnight drop offs.

Volunteers and donations are always needed. For more information, call 515-465-1800.
