Hundreds of holiday revelers filled the handsomely remodeled lobby and open office space of the Raccoon Valley Bank in downtown Perry Thursday evening for the bank’s annual holiday party, catered by the Perry Hy-Vee.

Prime rib, smoked salmon and a variety of toothsome finger foods — including chocolate-covered strawberries — were shared by the local lender’s many clients, friends and Perry-area business people at the public soiree.

Joelle Miner of Perry said she has attended every one of the Raccoon Valley Bank’s Christmas parties, now running to at least 15.

“It’s cold tonight, but this party is still a great way to kickoff the holiday season,” said Joelle Miner of Perry, who left a little early in order to catch the Cyclone game.

Tod and Wendy Ellis of Adel enjoyed hors d’oeuvres while marvelling at last month’s hair’s-breadth mayoral election in Adel. Tod Ellis is the Raccoon Valley Bank’s chief credit officer.

Pegasus TV-12 Program Director Keith Knoll and Pegasus volunteer Doug Wood took a break from chronicling Perry’s history long enough to tuck into the buffet.

“Their prime rib is always done just the way I like it,” said Wood. “I’m just sorry my friend Dan Haymond couldn’t be here because he likes these things as much as I do. But he’s in a Kansas City jail. That’s where he works,” Wood said, repeating a favorite joke.
