A Redfield man was arrested Wednesday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with a March 4 incident in which he allegedly choked a woman and damaged her bathroom fixtures.

Bryan Alan Nelson, 42, of 1408 Jefferson St., Redfield, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

The incident occurred about 8:45 p.m. March 4 in the 28700 block of R Avenue in rural Adel, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs made contact with the female victim, who said that she and Nelson had a “physical altercation,” according to court records.

In the course of the fight, Nelson allegedly “put his hands around her” neck and “squeezed her neck until she could not breath,” according to court records.

The deputies “could see red marks on the victim’s neck,” according to court records, and the victim said the “her neck hurt and could not breathe.”

In the course of the fight, Nelson also allegedly broke “the toilet in the bathroom” and “also broke several other things hanging on the walls in the bathroom,” which “resulted in water going all over the bathroom and into the hallway damaging the carpet,” according to court records.

A warrant for Nelson’s arrest was ordered March 5 in Dallas County District Court and served March 10.

Nelson is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 22 in Dallas County District Court.
