About 100 people relaxed in Pattee Park Friday evening at the season’s first Free Friday Fest, sponsored by the city of Perry, the Chamber of Commerce and various local businesses.

The songs from the Des Moines-based band Brother Trucker varied from Chuck Berry-style rock classics to countrified ballads in the style of the New Riders of the Purple Sage.

The Perry Firefighters Association served grilled cheeseburgers and brats to the hungry throng, and the junior class of Perry High School served ice cream sundaes.
